DevAssure alternative: verify each change from inside the app

A DevAssure alternative that checks your coding agent's change while it works: network, state and console inside the running app, with the file:line to fix.

If you want a DevAssure alternative that checks a change inside the running app while your agent is still writing it, rather than after a PR opens, Reticle is built for that. If you want a managed agent that tests every PR's impacted flows in the cloud with no setup, DevAssure is the closer fit.

What DevAssure does

DevAssure's pitch is "Every PR, tested in under 30 minutes. DevAssure O2 maps what could break and validates impacted flows" (devassure.io).

Its O2 agent reads a pull request's diff, maps the flows it could affect, generates and runs targeted browser tests in the cloud, and reports back on the PR. It has a Cursor extension, agent skills, a GitHub Action and a CLI for GitLab and CircleCI. MCP is not mentioned.

Pricing is $25 per agent a month with a 7-day trial, and custom pricing for 20 or more agents (pricing). The core is closed; only its agent skills are MIT on GitHub.

What Reticle does

Reticle checks an AI coding agent's change and returns a pass or fail with evidence. It reads network calls, console, DOM and application state, and on React and Svelte it names the file:line to fix.

Your agent calls it over MCP from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex, during the change rather than after the PR. Saved flows replay with no model in the loop. It works on your own app and on sites you don't own (its own browser, SDK injected); app state and file:line need the SDK in your build. The hosted platform runs the same checks on previews and pull requests.

Where DevAssure is the better choice

  • You want per-PR impact analysis out of the box. O2 reads the diff and decides which flows to test. Reticle replays the flows you have saved, so coverage depends on what was driven.
  • You want managed cloud runners. Tests run on DevAssure's infrastructure, so nothing runs on your machine.
  • You want a low, predictable entry price per agent with a trial.
  • Your team works in Cursor and wants an extension, not an MCP config.

Where Reticle is the better choice

  • You want the check before the PR, not after. The agent verifies inside its own loop and fixes the problem before it says done, so the PR arrives already checked.
  • The failure is invisible on screen. A double charge request, a 200 that never persists, or a silent console error passes a browser test that only reads the page. Reticle reads them directly.
  • You want deterministic, cheap re-runs. Re-verifying a four-flow suite costs about 480 tokens, about 251 times less than having a model re-drive it, with one verdict across 8 replays (scorecard).

Can you use both?

Yes. DevAssure can act as the PR-level safety net, and Reticle can be the check your agent runs before it hands the change over. Why the agent's own "done" is not enough is covered in what AI verification is and testing Cursor's changes.

FAQ

What is the best alternative to DevAssure?

The best alternative to DevAssure depends on when you want the check. For a verdict your coding agent reads while it works, from network, state and console inside the app, Reticle fits. For hand-written end-to-end tests in CI, use Playwright or Cypress. For another managed per-PR agent, compare other AI QA services.

How much does DevAssure cost?

DevAssure's Cloud Agent costs $25 per agent per month with a 7-day trial, and pricing for 20 or more agents is custom, as listed on its pricing page in October 2026. Reticle's SDK is free and open source, and its hosted platform can be started free with no credit card.

How is Reticle different from DevAssure?

Reticle is different from DevAssure in timing and depth. DevAssure tests a pull request's impacted flows from outside the app after the PR opens. Reticle checks each change inside the running app while the agent works, reads requests, state and console, and points to the source line on React and Svelte.

Does Reticle test pull requests too?

Yes, Reticle tests pull requests through its hosted platform, which runs saved flows against previews in a real browser. In CI, npx @reticlehq/server verify <url> replays the saved flows against a preview URL and exits non-zero when one fails, so a broken flow fails the build before review.

Why Reticle

Your agent says it works. Reticle checks.

  • Checks each change inside the running app: network, state and console, not a screenshot.
  • Returns a pass or fail with the evidence and the file:line to fix.
  • Open-source SDK on your machine, or the platform on every preview and PR.

No credit card required.
