If you want a LambdaTest alternative (the company is now called TestMu AI) for checking a coding agent's change from inside the running app, Reticle is built for that. If you need thousands of real browsers and devices, a parallel grid for big existing suites, or visual and accessibility testing under one bill, TestMu AI is the stronger choice.
What happened to LambdaTest
LambdaTest renamed itself TestMu AI on January 12, 2026, positioning as an agentic quality engineering platform (SiliconANGLE). The old pricing URL now redirects to testmuai.com/pricing. Its GitHub organisation is still called LambdaTest.
What TestMu AI does
TestMu AI is a cloud of real browsers, emulators and real devices that runs your Selenium, Playwright or Appium suites, plus KaneAI, which it calls "the end-to-end testing agent" that turns plain English into tests (KaneAI). Other products include HyperExecute (a parallel test grid), SmartUI (screenshot visual regression), accessibility scans, a test manager, and products for testing AI agents.
Kane CLI, launched in April 2026 and Apache-2.0 on GitHub, puts KaneAI in the terminal; coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor call it and get a verdict with an evidence pack. TestMu also has a remote MCP server for its platform (MCP docs).
Pricing is public and per product. KaneAI is free, then $17, $89 and $179 a month billed annually; web automation starts at $29 a month; HyperExecute at $159 a month (pricing). Free tiers are lifetime caps, for example 100 automation minutes.
What Reticle does
Reticle checks an AI coding agent's change and returns a pass or fail with evidence. It reads network calls, console, DOM and application state, and on React and Svelte it names the file:line to fix.
Your agent calls it over MCP while it works, and saved flows replay with no model in the loop. It works on your own app and on sites you don't own (its own browser, SDK injected); app state and file:line need the SDK in your build. The SDK is open source (Apache-2.0).
TestMu AI vs Reticle at a glance
| TestMu AI (KaneAI, Kane CLI) | Reticle | |
|---|---|---|
| Main job | Run and author tests across a browser and device cloud | Verify an agent's change inside the running app |
| Browsers and devices | Thousands of browsers, real iOS and Android devices | The browser your app runs in |
| How a check sees the app | From outside, through the browser | Inside the page: network, state, console, DOM |
| Agent integration | Kane CLI called from the terminal; platform MCP server | MCP for Claude Code, Cursor, Codex; skill file |
| Re-runs | KaneAI credits; saved named runs replay from cache | Saved flows replay with no model, 0% flake over 8 replays |
| Points to the fix | Evidence pack, AI root-cause analysis | The failing request or state, and file:line on React and Svelte |
| Open source | Kane CLI (Apache-2.0); platform closed | SDK Apache-2.0; server FSL-1.1 |
| Pricing | KaneAI free, then $17 to $179/mo; per-product plans | Start free, no card; open-source SDK free |
Where TestMu AI is the better choice
- You need real devices and many browsers. TestMu runs on a large browser and real-device cloud. Reticle checks in the browser your app runs in.
- You have a big Selenium or Playwright suite and want it to run fast in parallel on HyperExecute.
- You want visual, accessibility, performance and test management from one vendor and one bill.
- You want native mobile automation. Reticle is for web apps.
Where Reticle is the better choice
- The bug is under the screen. A request fired twice, a write that never persists or a store out of sync with the page pass any check that reads the page. Reticle reads them directly.
- You want the source line. On React the verdict names the component and
file:line(on Svelte, thefile:line), so the agent edits the right file. - You want measured, deterministic re-runs. 85 of 88 seeded bugs caught with no false alarms; about 480 tokens to re-verify four flows; one verdict across 8 replays (scorecard).
- You want it local. Nothing from your app leaves the machine unless you link a project.
Can you use both?
Yes. Run your cross-browser and device suites on TestMu, and let your agent verify each change inside the app with Reticle before those suites run. For browser tools aimed at agents, see MCP browser testing and Reticle vs Playwright MCP. The BrowserStack-style device clouds and others are grouped in the AI testing tools guide.

FAQ
What happened to LambdaTest?
LambdaTest renamed itself TestMu AI on January 12, 2026, and repositioned as an agentic quality engineering platform. The same products continue under the new name, including the browser and device cloud, HyperExecute and the KaneAI testing agent. The old pricing URL now redirects to the TestMu AI site.
What is the best alternative to LambdaTest or TestMu AI?
The best alternative to LambdaTest, now TestMu AI, depends on the job. For another browser and real-device cloud, compare device-cloud vendors. For your coding agent verifying each change from inside the app, with network, state and console, Reticle fits. For running tests yourself, Playwright is free.
How is Reticle different from KaneAI and Kane CLI?
Reticle is different from KaneAI and Kane CLI in where it looks. KaneAI writes and runs tests from outside the app across TestMu's cloud. Reticle reads requests, application state and console from inside the running page, replays saved flows with no model, and points to the source line on React and Svelte.
Does TestMu AI have an MCP server?
Yes, TestMu AI has a remote MCP server that connects MCP clients to its platform, covering HyperExecute, automation, SmartUI, accessibility and test manager. Kane CLI is a separate terminal tool that coding agents call directly. Reticle's MCP server works locally with Claude Code, Cursor and Codex.
Why Reticle
Your agent says it works. Reticle checks.
- Checks each change inside the running app: network, state and console, not a screenshot.
- Returns a pass or fail with the evidence and the file:line to fix.
- Open-source SDK on your machine, or the platform on every preview and PR.
